Senior pranks are a joke

Seniors are approaching their last few weeks of high school. Yet, there has not been a senior prank. Last year, administration began enforcing the rule that all senior pranks must be approved by the principal. This takes away the whole point of a “prank.” People are not supposed to know what is happening.

Administration is threatening that any prank not approved will cause the student(s) in charge to not be able to walk at graduation. This is unfair. There are things that seniors are expected to do, and performing a senior prank is included on this list. How are seniors supposed to perform a prank when the principals already know?

A downfall to our senior class is we have not been able to do anything as a class. Whether it be a theme for a game or gathering enough spirit to win the spirit stick, our class has never been able to agree on anything. Usually senior classes have a GroupMe to organize themes and pranks. However, our senior class has had our GroupMe taken away. This makes getting anything organized nearly impossible.

If there are going to be any senior pranks, then it should be up to the seniors. The administration should not be involved at all. I think there are limits on pranks: students should not permanently damage school property and we should be responsible for cleaning up anything we do. But making threats, like not letting seniors walk at graduation, is a little extreme.
Senior pranks are a tradition that should be maintained here at Rogers High School, but they should remain exactly what they are. Pranks are supposed to be a surprise. Therefore, administration should not be aware of the senior’s plans.
