Graduate of Promise is a program offered by Rogers High School, in which seniors have the opportunity to receive a chord, certificate, and recognition at graduation. This program allows students to reflect on their education leading up to graduation, and share their hopes and plans for the future.

“I feel like being a Graduate of Promise allows you to share and get recognized for all your hard work during high school,” said Alejandra Ruiz,12.

In order to become a Graduate of Promise, seniors are required to get credentials in seven areas:communication, content knowledge, reasoning and thinking skills, employability skills, career awareness, technology, and aesthetic literacy. Advisory teachers need to see some type of evidence to be able to sign off on a specific credential.

“I recommend to start credentialing your freshman year so you won’t have to rush to get it done a couple days before it’s due,” said Yarendi Malagon,12.

On top of getting those credentials, seniors need to complete a minimum of 60 hours of community service and do a senior presentation. Senior presentations allow seniors to reflect on their educational experiences and any other topic they wish to talk about.

“I was happy that though my senior presentation I was able to show my close friends what I have achieved myself, and what they helped me achieve by going through my high school journey with me,” said Malagon.

Overall, being a Graduate of Promise allows you to showcase your high school career to your friends, family, and teachers, and be recognized for your achievements and commitments.
