The Har-ber high school newspaper published stories concerning questionable student athletes’s transfers to the rival high-school Springdale High. After the story was published, the Springdale district administration suspended the newspaper until further review. The superintendent, Jim Rollins, wrote a letter to the newspaper adviser, Karla Sprague, stating that the stories were “intentionally negative, demeaning, derogatory, hurtful and potentially harmful to the students addressed in those articles”.

Below are the articles in question as well as the “Arkansas Student Publications Act” which clarifies student’s free speech protections.
