An altercation between a student and a faculty member occurred early Tuesday morning. The incident took place when the student was asked for her Mountie time pass. Students are not allowed to be roaming the halls without the appropriate pass. The student then became hostile towards several faculty members. One faculty member made contact with the student and was then hit with the student’s purse. That teacher restrained the student until administration could intervene. The district has released this official statement following the incident:

“A safe and respectful learning environment for students and staff is always our expectation. We are working closely with the police in investigating an interaction of concern at RHS. The staff member involved has been placed on administrative leave until the investigation is complete.”

Law enforcement is currently conducting an investigation.

This is a developing story, the Mountie Spectrum will post more details as they are made available.
