For the past decade, every release of Toy Story has invited kids, teens and adults to spread out on the living room floor and enjoy the movie as a family.
In both reality and the movie series, part of growing up has kids going from playing with toys to becoming uninterested and tossing them out. Seeing this development displayed on the screen evokes a deep sense of nostalgia and reminiscence to the beloved childhood years; this makes the movie relatable for both children and adults. Hence it became one of Disney’s most well-known stories.
The fifth installment in the Toy Story franchise is set to be released June 19, 2026. It has been nearly seven years since the last movie and over 30 years since the first one. While many older fans are awaiting this release, the shift in the setting highlights the epidemic of young children being hooked on technology rather than building their own imaginations..
He feels unsure about this drastic shift because the movies have always focused on the main toys but he’s ready to see where this story leads, said Roy Arroyo, 11.
In every movie, the toys have always had to overcome a challenge, though this one seems even bigger than before. While many are still excited to see what Pixar has come up with, some people are having doubts on whether this movie will live up to the expectations that the others have surpassed.
This will probably be the last in the series because Woody already left once. Who’s to say he won’t leave again. I’m excited to see the movie if it’ll make or break the group, Dalila Trejo, 10.
Pixar movies always tend to bring up some nostalgia, while the story keeps moving forward and involving technologies it also looks back on these early movies.
“I think this is a good idea, Toy Story movies are always fun and these movies make me think of my childhood,” Arroyo said.
