The Rogers High School swim team has seen an exponential growth in the number of students compared to previous years. This rise in popularity can be attributed to the team’s sense of community, supportive coaching and the persistent training schedule.
The Mounties swim team practices daily. Even through these gruelling practices, the athletes remain united. Daily sessions help build their discipline and commitment to the team.
The team practices at Arkansas Swim Academy in the morning which runs for an hour before school, but the effort is always worth it in the end, said Adalyn Miester, 11.
Beyond meet results, their team culture plays a huge role in the program’s success. This team has made both new and old students feel welcomed and included. Not only do students join to compete, but to be in a positive environment.
“It is truly the best environment and community that I have ever been a part of; everyone is so sweet, and I have a blast at meets,” said Rubi Lange, 10.
Not only is the team’s growth from student effort, it is also a contribution from the coaches. The swim coaches heavily impact these student athletes and push them to consistently improve, all while creating a safe and motivating space.
“Swimmers are continually hitting new personal records each meet and or practice,” said Stella Ceola, 10.
Similar to many other RHS sports teams, the RHS swim team’s end goal is to compete well at State. The team trains from October to February to work toward this end goal, where they are able to show off what they have been training all season for.
Motivation plays a big role in this team’s success. For Ceola, her teammates are the ones who push her every morning to show up on time and give her best effort, she said.
As the season continues, the Rogers High School swim team growth is clear, not just in the pool, but in the strong connections they have created in and out of the program.
